"Personal empowerment, balanced healthcare, good nutrition, simple exercise and an awareness of what you can do this year to fulfil your desires."
Shiatsu involves comfortable pressure from the thumbs and palms applied to energy channels and points in the body. It is given through loose, comfortable clothing, and can include gently stretches and rotations of the limbs and joints.
By balancing the flow of Ki or energy in the acupuncture meridians, shiatsu can relieve many conditions, help prevent the build up of stress and restore vitality and well-being.
Each meridian is linked to an organ and a balanced condition exists when Ki flows smoothly along the meridians or lines like a series of streams, supplying and maintaining all parts of the body.
When the body is weakened by lifestyle, stress or injury the Ki no longer flows smoothly, it becomes deficient in some areas and blocked in others. The aim of Shiatsu is to rebalance the flow of energy or Ki in the body.
The treatment usually takes place on a padded mat or futon on the floor, however it can also be given on a plinth or in a massage chair.
When the treatment is complete the practitioner will make simple recommendations regarding exercise, changes to lifestyle and dietary patterns to support health and wellbeing.
Conditions which respond well to Shiatsu include headaches, migraines, stress, anxiety, backache, neck and shoulder pain.
The treatment is calming, grounding and deeply relaxing for the body and mind and it helps to prevent and relieve many everyday conditions.
Kinect 2 Health recommend a regular shiatsu as a good way to prevent health or stress problems arising and many clients come just because they enjoy it and it helps them to stay well and in control of their lives.
Shiatsu can be given in pregnancy after the first 3 months. Metamorphic Technique is recommended during the first 3 months or throughout the pregnancy.
Overall a Shiatsu treatment will give you a reading of your own body and you will understand the connections between the lifestyle you live and the stress you experience. We find even a 15 minute treatment given in a shiatsu massage chair allows you to feel refreshed and relaxed. These short sessions can be given in your workplace.
